Hey, been reading this community for a while, though I might as well post. I'm Cal; I'm 19, and live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm unemployed, though I'm hoping to make it as a screenwriter. Going back to university next year.

I listen to almost all forms metal except numetal, though I got over power metal a while ago, and my favourite bands are Opeth, Disillusion, Katatonia, Isis, Mastodon, Cynic, Maudlin Of The Well, Nile, Amon Amarth and Capharnaum. The only metal acts I've seen in concert were Opeth, and some local Aussie acts (Blood Duster, Bowelmouth, a few other good ones). I keep missing out on all the big shows - In Flames, Nightwish and Megadeth have all toured here this year and I haven't had the cash to see them. Ah well.

Everybody seems to want bands similar to Lacuna Coil; I'm no exception. I don't find Nightwish does the job for me, though. Any other ideas? Also, anybody know of any bands reminiscent of Opeth, or any doom/death bands that are like early Katatonia (Brave Murder Day era) other than Rapture or November's Doom?

Hey... New to the community... nice to meet you!

I'm into the usual bands you'd expect someone posting in this community to like... I was wondering if anyone's going to see Sonata Arctica play at Thirteenth Day this year (for those of you in the UK!)

Sonata Arctica, Norther, Fintroll, Epica, Dragonland, Intense and Seasons End are all playing! ? It's like... £18 for a ticket but the line up is really good!

Allllsoooo... recommend me some cool female fronted bands like Nightwish/Lacuna :D

Hi there, people.
I looks rather dead around here, so I thought this might be a good time to introduce myself.

I'm Tiina, a 20-years-old girl from Finland, the promised land of metal. Yay. I'm a university student (English major, to be more specific, although it may be hard to believe since my English sucks sometimes really hard, sorry about that) in Jyväskylä, although originally I come from the same small town, Kitee, as Nightwish (yeah, worship me).

My favourite bands are Rammstein, Lacuna Coil, Evereve and Nightwish. There are naturally these phases when some of them are less constantly listened and some, like now Rammstein with their newest album, is listened to 24/7. And there are times when some other bands push these four aside, but they are the ones I can say I am a fan of.

Of the bands mentioned in this community's interest list I've seen live only Cradle of Filth, Moonspell, Nightwish and Sonata Arctica, but I've seen live some other bands that might be labelled as melodic metal; Sentenced, for example.

Naturally I would die to see Rammstein and Lacuna Coil perform live, but I have no idea when they might be coming to Finland (except that Rammstein has one concert here in November, but I couldn't get a ticket, so all I can do is whine and hope they'll be back next year). I really, really need to see them.
